What is that shrimp...

I hope, here is the place to find eough Shrimps experts...

I got a question for you and will be glad to got the answer...

Is it a some green variety of Neocaridina sp. or Caridina japonica…!?

Youe pictures are very nice!
It is not Neocaridina sp., from your pict.1, it is clear belong to Caridina sp.. it is also not Caridina japonica, for C.japonica has longer rostrum.Maybe it is a new species to science. Of course, if you can provide the picts.of the first male pleopod and the second male pleopod, maybe identify it. Welcome exchange idea!

It does look like what's sold as "Amano shrimp" or "japonica" in stores, though. If it's really *the* Caridina japonica is another question. It's definitely a closely related shrimp or subspecies of some sort. Here in the US and Europe you do see some variation in the "Amano shrimp" that are imported. Some have short rostra, others longer ones. Some reach huge sizes while others stay somewhat smaller. What they all share is the "dot pattern" that makes the Amano shrimp so distinctive. In any case, as Zhaoliang already implied, even with a "common" shrimp such as the Amano shrimp the scientific classification is not set in stone yet.

The colour doesn't look like my japonicas....but the body shape does except i've never seen mine in such wonderful detail. Are you feeding them any colour enhancing foods?

Fabulous photos....i'm so jealous lol....what camera are you using?

No, Pal - I feed them with nothing spesial...

My camera is CANON 350D with Canon lens 50 mm/f2.5 Macro
For more of the shots I used the camera’s flash with diffuser
or putting externally Speedlite 430EX over the tank...

Being guest in friend of mine, I was make some marine snap shots…
Those nice saltwater shrimp was one of my favorite objects too.
I wanna share some pics of it in others forums also, but first, plase again –
help me to ID those shrimp correctly…!?
Is it of sure "Stenopus hispidus" - Banded Coral Shrimp !?

I also have a couple of amano shrimp, Caridina japonica, that look just like yours. It's the dotted strips on the side are the sign of an amano shrimp. Very nice pictures, thanks for sharing them

Before 3 days I saw my bigest pregant female with empty abdomen…
and much little shrimps larvae roaming in the tank …
I know only that, to raise the larvae of that shrimp - they will need Brackish (or Marine ?) water to survive …
Will somebody tell me something more and special about it, please…:idea:

Hi Aquasaur, breeding Amanos seems to be a hot topic, if you do a search you should be able to find a lot of info about it but check this link viewtopic.php?t=1688&highlight=amano they have a long discussion as well as links to other success stories.
