Looking for a larger shrimp

Post by xhaust50 »

Hello. I have many RCS's in a 10G, but I would like something that is larger and almost as easy to breed. This means amano's are out. Is there anything out there that is larger and not too difficult to breed? The only thing I found is the freshwater ghost shrimp on the shrimp varieties page, but Mustafa doesn't sell them, and I'm not sure if the one's on aquabid are the same as described. Are there other options?

How large did you want to go, have you checked out the Macros on the variaties page? According to the info the Red Claws are fairly prolific breeders.

Breeding of this shrimp happens almost "automatically" as long as proper conditions are given (i.e. clean water, food etc.).

Of course you would need a larger tank as they would make a snack out of your RCS....

I didn't even consider them. I will look further into them, and also take a look at some crayfish.
