Crystal Red Shrimp , A first Timer

Post by Newjohn »

Well I finally set up a soft water tank.

So, I thought I would try a few CRS.

I have 3 females carring eggs.

Here are a couple of pictures.

They are not the higher grade CRS.

Thanks for the pictures. I really like the shrimp, and you already have 3 carrying eggs. I hope to get a few soon myself. Please keep us updated especially on the hatching of the eggs :D .

Best of luck with them.

I kept five in a PH of just under 7 and I had one female carrying eggs but sadly they didn't last very long.

I hope you have more luck with them than I did and I hope to see little CRS shrimplet pics soon. :D

John,

Very nice. I had to wait around 1 month to see some of the offspring after they were born. It is amazing what a good job they do hiding.

How are you keeping that ph low? Also, what temp doe syour tank has?

Hi Pedro

I use the Acid method , mentioned in one of the threads.
To clean the gravel, and help to prevent PH spikes.

And with the deluted Acid solution, mentioned in yet another thread.
To help maintaine the PH.

I will Check over my notes, and let you know .
I lost my notes awhile back, and It took me awhile to look up all that information again.

Atleast we have a good reference guide, to look it up.
 Just a little Good PR

The Tank Temperature is at 76

I suggest lowering your temp. I have better success at 73F.
