Vietnamesse Glass Shrimp

I just picked up 6 "Vietnamesse Glass Shrimp"
At a local pet store.

Sorry, No picture.
The Digital Camera is in for repairs.

Does any have information on these ?

2 of the Shrimp are holding eggs ?

Any information will be helpful

Judging from the name I think I know where they come from.

If it's really those shrimp then they look like Macrobrachium lanchesteri or a related species. They should have medium size eggs and you should be able to rear the larvae in complete freshwater.

Sorry there was not a picture, My digital camera is not working.

I traded a few Cherry Red Shrimp for these Guys, At a Local Pet Store.

2 of them are holding eggs, I could not really tell what size eggs they were. I wanted to make every effort to try and raise the young.

The only picture I could find was on another web-site. There was no information with the picture. Just a guess at the Name.

I will post a picture as soon as I get my camera back

Thanks for the pictures. They are what I thought they were. Either M. lanchesteri or a very closely related species. This is the "other ghost/glass shrimp" that people from outside the US refer to when they talk about "ghost shrimp." They are very interesting shrimp and quite active.

These "Glass / Ghost" Shrimp have alot more color, than the US ones.

They are very active.

Not a bad trade, for a few extra RCS .

Yeah, they are very efficient. Most Macrobrachium shrimp act that way actually. Our native Palaemonetes sp. act in a similar fashion. I love Palaemonid shrimp...they all have personality.

I would have to agree.

The Palaemonetes that I have, were Bred in my tank. They are the first ones to find the food.

I like the way the hover/float in the water.

When I get largers tanks I will be setting up a Palemontes only tank.

10 & 15gal tanks are a little to small to have a good colony.

I'm nearly positive it is the same store I go to nearly evert other day lol

I have been observing the "Vietnamese Glass Shrimp" for a week or 2 now, and am debating about picking up a few.

Let me know how breeding them goes for you, if you decide to do that.

Greg lets me know ,when ever there are Shrimp on his list, to see if I want them.

I will be updating this thread as often as I can.

I picked up 6 of these, 2 were berried females.

They look alot better than they did at the store.
