Panic,
Please read the forum rules in regards to posting about "buying shrimps"l. Mustafa, owner of petshrimp.com, will not be happy about this. If you really want to get some, please PM other members in here to ask about it, or better yet, this is the place to buy RCS right on the left side which states "Petshrimp Store". Even though it is temporary out of stock for the moment, I am very sure Mustafa will have enough stock to sell again soon.
I do not believe you can raise ghost shrimps with guppies. I have done that before, and the larvae from the ghost shrimps are eaten very quickly by the guppies (YUM YUM, good snack). That is the same for RCS as well if you want to house them together with guppies (unless it is REALLY heavily planted). Even with that setting, you might not see your RCS often because they are scared of the guppies. Set up another tank just for shrimps in general without fish.

People like this are especially aggravating to me. This guy contacts me over pm *before posting anything* and asks to buy 3 shrimp (a "trio", as he said). I tell him that I am out of stock right now and that the minimum order is 10 shrimp. Since his inquiry for a "trio" (3 shrimp, probably one male two female) indicated that he did not even read the information on the petshrimp store page (where it says "out of stock" and "minimum 10 shrimp, non-sexable juveniles etc.) I tell him specifically to go read the forum rules before posting *anything*, as it's already clear to me that this guy will break the rules right away. I also told him to go read the petshrimp store page for more information. The guy PMs me back saying that "all the forum rules are the same" (=the rules of all forums are the same, hence he does not have to read them) and again asks me if I really don't have a trio of red cherry shrimp for sale.

And then, of course, I see this posting. :smt076 :smt075 :smt021 :smt102 Why don't people just listen to what they are asked to do? It's like someone coming to your home and you tell them to take their dirty shoes off and they run all over your carpet with their muddy shoes....Anyway, sorry for the rant.

"panic" is now banned. Such behavior deserves immediate banning.

Too bad I can't mark up his post with a red pen and correct the spelling & grammar.

Some people's only purpose is life is to serve as an example to others as what not to do.

Yes, sadly. And they refuse to listen to anyone who tells them they are doing something wrong. Watch this guy go to some other forum and complain about how rude and unfriendly this forum is and have a bunch of other banned troublemakers agree with him.....

It seems that, some people today,
Want something for nothing.

They want to know every thing about Shrimp,
But, Do not want to do any reading/research.

Do not take the advise of other people,
Do what ever they feel like.

They make people clean up the mud,
Off of there new carpeting.

And say,
Did I Do That.

NewJohn, are you asking if people think that you did the same things you are describing? I don't think so, but I haven't been on here real long.

lol, since we are on the subject....Did I do that? I hope not lol. I read all the articles, forum rules, and a ton of posts before posting for the first time. I guess I always wonder that on forums--you know, like if people actually like you on the board, or if you are really annoying but no one says anything.

I think on this board if someone is irritated with you they'll let you know, lol!

I just found this forum a week or two ago, so I am a newbie. I see it like this - I read the rules, did alot of research on my own, but still had alot of specific questions, so I just jumped in an asked. How are ya gonna get answers if ya don't ask? I did make a mistake by posting a link to a commercial website - it was brought to my attention and I won't do it again. Everone makes a mistake now and then and everyone asks a dumb or repetitive question sometimes. Hopefully most people understand that and can be accepting of the fact that the newbies are just trying to do they best they can to have healthy tank inhabitants.

Everyone has been very nice and polite to me despite that fact that I've had a ton of questions. This board is very helpful.

Hi wendyjo,
Don't get me wrong. Even I have made that mistake before in asking people for shrimps and other things in this forum. But I was told I have broken a rule and I will not break it again (at least try my best not to). However, based on what our forum owner, Mustafa, the former forum member, panic, has basically broken the rules intentionally after he/she did not like the answer stated from Mustafa himself and had to find someone to fulfill his needs/desire. Then I believe the person basically could care less about forum rules or conditions to follow (based on what what was said) and just want to achieve his/her needs, by trying to obtain the shrimps he/she wants and basically abandon this site after their desire is fulfilled.

Even a repeated common question is ok if you are seeking clarification of specific details and can back it up with the information you already know.

The rules here don't exist to make people intimidated to post, they just help keep this site free from fluff so that the top-notch information here is not lost in a sea of mindless chatter.

Just look at any general fish forum and you'll find 50 new threads every day posted by people wondering why their fish died in the aquarium they set up 2 days ago. Anything worth reading in such a forum becomes as hard to find as a needle in a haystack because people can't be bothered to educate themselves first before begging for freebies.

As a biologist/ecologist, this forum is right up my alley with its intelligent discussions and reliable information.

Oh, and I wasn't excusing the OP's disregard for the rules. I was kinda just butting in and commenting on some of the other things that had been posted in the thread.

Yucca - I wondered what your profession was! I saw you post about looking at the organisms on the magnolia (or was it oak) leaf under a microscope and was totally impressed, lol ;)
