Keep an eye out for hydra; the small ones are harder to spot, particularly on plants. With luck, you may have gotten them before they became established and won't see any more.
So, I took another closer look at my snowball shrimp today. Well, looks like I have 6 females. The 2 that I thought were male have a very, very faint saddle. I'm really hoping that the shrimplet grows up to be male, or I'll be PMing Mustafa in a few weeks begging for at least one male.
I think you are correct! I think the two "females" that I thought had faint saddles are in fact males.
About 2 hours ago, I noticed a female carrying eggs! When we came back from dinner, I took a closer look and there are 2 confirmed females carrying eggs!
There's one female that looks like she'll molt by morning, so I could have 3 females with eggs soon!
Congratulations ! I hope you have the good news of babies soon By the way, I just set up a new tank for my snowball shrimp. I hope they like it enough to mate and have babies also. Looks like you will beat me to it though
LOL I can't wait to see pics of their new tank! It's not a competition, so I won't give you the "HAHA! pffffft!" response. Good luck to you and your shrimp!
My first 2 females that carried eggs dropped all of their eggs before Christmas. When I came home from vacation, I found one of my females with swimmerets fulls of eggs. I looked closer today at the eggs and saw that the eggs had darkened, and I could see eyes through the eggs. Does this mean that they are about ready to hatch? I haven't been able to see eyes in my RCS eggs.
Oh, and I got a ZooMed 501 filter for this tank, and I like it already!
The ZooMed 501 is a mini canister filter originally made for turtle tanks. They work great for aquariums up to 10 gallons (but the box says 30 gallon aquariums, but it doesn't have enough gph for it).
So far, I LOVE this little filter! It's been doing a great job at keeping the water CRYSTAL CLEAR! It came with a charcoal bag, ceramics, and a large sponge. The filter has two compartments: filter sponge on one side, and all other filter media on the other. So, what I did was kept the sponge on one side, and on the other, I used the ceramics it came with, added in the AquaClear Bio-Max from the AquaClear 20 that I originally used on the tank, and put in the sponge from the AquaClear 20 that was on the tank. I also like this filter because it's quiet, but I think I said that already. I still need to order a hanger for the filter. This filter is small and light enough to hang onto the side or back of the tank. It also comes with a spray bar and a flow director-do-dadd (yes, that's a technical term).

And...
It snowed loast night.
Snow is always nice before it becomes sludge . I am really thinking about buying this little filter for my CRS display tank. It will replace my sponge filters, one of them at least.
I wanted to ask if the flow from the spray bar and a flow director-do-dadd (I would copyright that term ) is very strong and is it adjustable?
