What water should I use? I can use ro/di and add kent r/o right to that, or should I just use tap and add start right or something like that to it? My tap water reads 160 tds.
KH value in dKH is 7.9
Alkalinity in meq/L is 2.8

Sorry, dooxOO, but you still need to tell us what species of shrimp, what species of crayfish, and at least the pH of your city tap water before any of us can give you an answer worth reading.
You might want to start with reading some of the shrimp variety descriptions here and then search for threads with topics about the species you want to keep. Chances are that all the info you need is right here if you look around some.

Well I don't know at this point, I know I want some ghost shrimp, some cherry shrimp, probably some dwarf crayfish.. still need to research more on what I would like though and if I will be able to keep them.YuccaPatrol wrote:Sorry, dooxOO, but you still need to tell us what species of shrimp, what species of crayfish, and at least the pH of your city tap water before any of us can give you an answer worth reading.

Do read up on the shrimp in the shrimp varieties page. There is also a back-door description for the cajun crayfish therough the shrimp store.
They can all live together in hard water, no need for R/O water. Just be sure to use a good water conditioner to remove the nasties in your water.
If your water is soft you can harden it up with several proooducts like electro-right or R/O right. Most tap water is just fine as long as it is basic.
