my 90g setup and diy wet/dry.

Post by doox00 »

I just got water in my 90g megaflow and diy wet/dry today, so far its seems to be working good.

This was a reef setup, I downsized my reef and moved it into a new smaller tank. The 30g tank I setup as a sump for the reef tank has now been converted to a wet/dry and sump for the freshwater. I also built the stand and canopy myself. The metal halides above the tank now will be taken down and going to put my 4x65 watt power compact fixture on the tank. (debating whether I want to keep the mh setup or use the pc fixture still) This will be a combination of planted tank, invert and fish tank.
I have 2 bags of flourite and 3 bags of moon sand as substrate. Today I went out and bought some driftwood to put in, need to go out and find/buy a ton of slate yet for rockwork.

All I did was buy 2 sterilite containers (these http://www.sterilite.com/Category.h...ctCategory=144#)
I stacked them, took the bottom 2 drawers out. Drilled about 200 holes into each of the other 4 drawers. Put in a PVC fitting for my drain line from my overflow into the top and thats it. Top drawer will get filter foam stuff, 2nd drawer will get carbon and 3rd and 4th drawers will get ceramic media.

It seems to be working good and quieter then I thought, still makes some noise but not to bad.

Sounds exciting, I wish I had room for a big show tank... someday I says to myself, someday. :smt106

My only concern is the black ghost knife fish. They are nocturnal predators, when you're watching during the day everything will seem fine, but once the lights go off they will start feasting on your shrimp, and maybe some of your fish. They are very cool fish, but eat things that I'm sure you'd rather they didn't.

yeah I was concerned about the ghost fish also, but I want one so bad lol. I will wait to put him in for last, if I even do, still debating.

So, you peaked my interest, and I found this:
When properly cared for, the Black Ghost Knifefish can reach well over one foot in length.
I didn't know they got that big! Quite a show stopper, but when it got big it would eat everything else in your tank. I understand wanting one though, good luck figuring out what to do.
