you need bigger crays, they're easy to see when they get to the size of a frickin house cat!

Good luck with your Dwarf Crayfish. It is worth the effort.
They are very interesting to watch, when you can find them.

Just a update
Out of the 12 young Crayfish, that I can see.
There are only 2, that are the bright Orange.
I have tried to get a picture, to show the difference in color.
But it does not show up in the Photo.

I will try later, when they get a little bigger.

Just a Update
I have moved 12 Young to a grow out tank. They are all around 1/2 of a inch.
The bright orange ones, seem to grow alot slower than the rest.
they all started out the same size, but the orange ones are half there size.
I have younger ones from a different batch, that a starting to catch up in size to the older orange ones .

I am sorry that there are no pictures. I lowered the wattage of light, so they would come out more often. And the light is not enough for good pictures.

Last night I saw one of my orange/brown females carrying eggs, but there are only 3. Is this simply because it's the first batch? The female is the smallest of the orange/brown, just a hair bigger than the 2 orange males.

I've now watched about 15 of my C. diminutus females carrying eggs. I have one carrying over 15 right now that are almost ready to molt into their final stage before being free-living, but this is the most I have observed.

To this point I have had females successfully produce anywhere between 1 and 8 offspring, but at least half of my females have dropped all of their eggs over the course of a couple weeks.

I believe I am having some improved success by isolating the berried females in the floating guppy breeders, but I need my next few females to produce higher numbers to confirm this.

I can say that the female carrying 15+ larvae right now is the largest female I have in the tank.

Just a update

I had a total of 17 young from 2 different Females.
Out of the 17, I had 3 Orange Crays.

The other 14 range in color.
Check out the Photos.

Sadly to say, My screen slipped downed the Drain tube, and the 2 Females escaped.
I have had a couple of mishaps and set backs.

This color of this Crayfish is ??

These are 2 of my 3 Orange Crayfish.
I had to use extra light to get this photo, which does not help to show the true color.

The Crayfish on the leaf is a Whitish color.
The Crayfish eating lunch is a Orange/Brown.

I'm STILL waiting to see a female with fertile eggs. The small orange/brown that was carrying a few never produced anything. The eggs were orange, apparently infertile. There are 2 orange males in the tank, so I don't understand why the female didn't mate before producing the eggs.
The single orange from Germany that survived out of 2 pairs is approaching the size of the 2 males. I think that one is a female, I'll have to check when it's a little larger. Would it be better to put her in the 30 with the others, or move a male into the 10 with the (hopefully) female and cherry shrimp?
I'm really hoping 2007 is a better year for the crayfish and shrimp in the 30. The wild-color zhangjiajiensis are as unproductive as the crayfish. A few of the smaller/younger ones are nearly as red as the cherry shrimp, while the largest ones are nearly transparent or brownish. Even the smaller ones are now the size of adult female cherry's, but still no eggs...

I am having the same problem wilt my Natural Color Form of
Cambarellus patzcuarensis. I would see the Females carring Eggs.
But, would never see any Offspring.

So, after reading YuccaPatrol's Thread.
In it, it was mentioned about the other Crayfish Harassing the Egg carring Female.
So I moved 1 Female into her own tank. And let her acclimate to her new surroundings for 1 week. And then added 1 Male until She was carring Eggs, then removed the Male.
This has worked so far.
