I.D. New shrimp please?

Post by eklikewhoa »

I got these from a LFS today and was told they received them as Green algae eaters but I compared them to the Varieties profile section and they look like the Neocaridina sp. "blue"

Here are some pics.....if anyone can confirm it would be great.

Hi eklikewhoa,

They actually look very nice :) How are they doing since you added them to the tank, have they changed in color/behavior? Please keep us updated.

They are doing great and in contrast to all the green plants they look really blue!
There is one that is pitch black though and it happens to be a she that is berried so well see if the color carries over to the offspring.

It would be great if it does breed true and you get all dark colored offspring :-D !

Thanks for the pictures! I see you also have the plant HC in the tank, do you find it difficult to grow? I will be getting some soon but I will only be putting a small patch in my shrimp tank to see if it grows in the current conditions. I will monitor and post the results.

The plant is Hemianthus callitrichoides (HC) and it does look cool. Here is a link for more information:

Yep it's HC but the left side is HM and Rotala sp. green that decided it wanted to be foreground plant as well as a stem.

Thanks for all the comments about the tank, much appreciated!

Beautiful tank, looks like it's very well-maintained.
Are you using CO2 and/or ferts in the tank? What are the two mid-size plants in the first couple pics?

Folks...it's getting way too off-topic here. This is a shrimp forum, not a planted tank forum. Let's keep the plant discussion limited to how it *directly* relates to shrimp.
