Cherry with a stripe

Okay, so I bought some cherries from petshrimp.com a few months ago and one of my females has devloped a stripe that goes the length of her back! Anybody else have this experiance? I love it!

Yup. I see the same thing on some of mine. It's fairly wide and kind've a pinkish colour.

The stripe is totally normal and part of the variation in N. denticulata sinensis in general. The same individual can develop and lose the stripe within a short amount of time. Some individuals never seem to have it while others run around with it all the time.

I have a gorgeous female with deep fuschia and a light pink stripe along it's back as well.

I had bought some shrimps with strip on the top, form head to tail. The LFS called them "assorted algea eating shrimp" for they do not know their name. I doubt it belongs to the cherry shrimp family for I also received some look same but in brown (like a wood) color, one in red (but paler than my cherry shrimp), all are females carrying eggs.

These are probably "Rainbow Shrimp", a collection of several species from India.

They look more like Green shrimp, except they are in red and brownish color.

Green shrimp can be red or brown. However, I would be surprised to find them labeled 'Assorted'.

doublefake, why don't you just post a picture? It is probably one of those unidentified species coming in with "rainbow shrimp" shipments from India.

Try dropping some food for them near the glass. That's how I get my shrimp to come out in the open for some pics.

My shrimp love to go for Hikari Crab Cuisine, Veggie Wafers, and other pellet-type foods. If you use food that's in tiny pieces, it tends to float all over the place. With wafers, you can break them into decent-sized chunks and drop them where you want the shrimp to be.

If you look back at my pics, you'll see that the shrimp are eating something in almost every pic.

I never feed my shrimps, they are all eating the algae in the tank.
Finally got some picturs of these shrimps, but not clear. They never show good poses.

Hard to tell from these pics, but the the first pic looks like one of those shrimp that would come with your typical "rainbow shrimp" mix. The red shrimp pic is too blury to tell anything. And the last pic looks like the same shrimp from the first pic.
