Amano shrimp dissapear?

Post by hirschy75 »

Hi everyone i had an amano shrimp in my eclipse 3 and now it is totally gone, i can't see it anywhere. it has no fish so i know it wasn't eaten so i did a little reserch to see if they eat their own kind and i discovered a thread on aquariacentral.com today that talked about the shrimp being totally gone and then like a week later coming back and i think there were like 3 other people that said the same thing and i was wondering if any of you out there have had this happen to you

The only time I had an amano shrimp disappear was when it had climbed out of the tank. It was not a happy ending as I found it 20 feet away dead on the carpet :( After that I made sure the tank was tightly covered.

If they don't like your water parameters, or there is no place to hide when they molt, they will try to escape. I've seen this with Bamboos too.

These things crawl like crayfish!

I had some go missing too but found out it was my Apisto eating them.
