When you get the chance see if you can get a good pic of some of your adults. The more you talk about them the more I think these are not american glass (grass) shrimp. There are other spppecies easily confused and often sold as ghost, glass or grass shrimp that have many more eggs.
I'm pretty sure you hit the nail right on the head...

I have to grow these up. I barely managed to get them before their parents died(presumably old age@~18 months. They are presently only about 3/8 to 1/2 inch and in a five gallon bucket, presently which is too small for my skills and point and shoot camera.

I have so many more valuable fish breeding that the priority is to raise what pays. These guys just spawned yesterday and notice the Amano Shrimp voyeur on the green tubing. Fish: Wild Sturisoma aureum

I did buy some supposedly SA shrimp (yellow bellies) that were, to me, identical in appearance, just not in price. I bought those a few years ago but never had them breed succesfully. I'm sure you can guess where and can understand why I would be skeptical of anything "they" say. They specialize in shipping dead shrimp.

The shrimp I have been raising were originally from WalMart and cost $0.26 each instead of $3 or $4.00 each
