Entering the World of the CRS...

Post by AnneRiceBowl »

I bought 4 CRS (grade unknown for now), which was what was left by the time I could get there yesterday at a local shop. Not sure of the sex ratio as of yet. I put them in a 5.5 gallon planted tank for now. They'll be upgraded to a larger tank later if I get more or if the population expands. I also got 2 RCS that were in the tank as freebies.

Neat. I've wanted to get Crystal Reds, but haven't hat the room yet. Right now they're #3 on my wish list, after Fuzzy Claw Macros and Sand/Perl Shrimp.

So, today I took a close look at my CRS. Looks like I have at least 2 females, and I am crossing my fingers for at least one male out of the four. The 2 females are just getting saddles. The one that I think is a male has a more slender body than the 2 with saddles.

I found a nice surprise! One of the females is carrying eggs! I just found her 15 minutes ago picking away in the flame moss.

Quick Update:

The tank still has no filter. 50% water changes done with RO water and whenever I can find the time right now because of alot of things going on right now.
