Happy Father's Day (to me at least) 8)

Post by pixl8r »

So my wife surprised me with a new aquarium today, and 4 Atyopsis moluccensis. They're young, but adults at about a inch and a quarter long. Needless to say, they're not in the new tank, I stuck them in my ~45g tank because that's the one with the strongest current (power head + HOB filter).

This is my first foray into the realm of filter feeding shrimp, but I'm looking forward to it! As for food, I'm just going to take the regular fish/crayfish food I have and powder it. I'll do this because, while the tank is well cycled (had fish/shrimp living in it for a few months now, without any deaths, yet), but it's not 'aged'. So I don't know how the micro foods are doing.

Hey Mustafa, tell those fuzzy claws to 'get busy' because I'll have a home for them in about a month! :)

So, I've got 15g of water siphoned out of another tank, with java moss, a few sea sponges, two lava rocks, a heater and a sponge filter going in a plastic rubbermaid tub. This is to get the new tank (water) started while I'm moving things around in my office/aquarium room.

Oh the little jar on the side is being used to sprout aponogeton bulbs.

Have any of you ever used a tub like this as a temporary tank? I've two more expensive ones that I use to age water in.

Never used tubs for shrimp, just for temp containers for water lilies and fish when I drain the pond for cleaning. Some folks use larger rubbermaid tubs for growing out fish though. Nothing wrong with the idea, I just prefer better visibility.

I have half my population of cherries in a 18 Gal Rubber made Toad and my Ranbows in another of the same size.

The cherries are still breeding like normal.

Interesting, I was worried about having much water in it for an extended period of time. The contents are still going to go into a glass tank, but the tub just might make another appearance.

I used to use a Rubber-maid Tub for QTing things. Than I broke it...Punched a hole in it by accident.
