It's like Christmas!!!

First, I got snowball shrimp! Yay!!! They are tiny, but seem to be doing well (when I can find them!). Second, when I was cleaning out the tank in preparation for the snowballs, I found four baby redclaw shrimp! I bought the mother from the lfs to see if I liked them, and was CERTAIN the eggs were infertile since I never saw a single baby. Then she died... and what do I find! I moved them to the "spare snails" tank, hopefully they will do well in there. Third, this morning I found dwarf gourami fry in there! I had just put them in to hold the cycle until the shrimp got here... it is only a quarter inch long, and still has some yolk sac, so I hope it will be ok with the snowballs until I can find a way to catch it... I went to find my brine shrimp net, and by the time I got back it was hiding again.

Anyway, I seem to have set up a magical tank of life. Hopefully the snowballs will think it is too.

Neat, but I wouldn't recommend drinking your magical tank water.

By the way, did you get your Red Claw shrimp from a pet store in Orem? That's where I found the four I purchased (two male, two female). They've produced over three hundred offspring.

Don't worry, the magical ingredient is likely something along the lines of "snail poo" or "hideous grey fuzzy stuff," so drinking wasn't on the list of things to do with it.

Alas, the tank I put the redclaws in had a nitrite spike today for heaven-only-knows-why, so we will see if the little guys make it.
