Eggs hatch in 16 days!

Post by Neonshrimp »

My berried yellow shrimp's eggs hatched in only 16 days  I know for sure because she is the only female in a tank of 5. She had just hatched her previous eggs on Dec. 25 and became berried again on Jan. 4 (10 days). Today her eggs hatched and there are new baby shrimp to join there older brothers and sisters. My thought is that since she was saddled when the last babies arrived the eggs have been developing for at least 10 + 16 = 26 days and that makes more sense. This is a very health tank and I think this helps with egg developement in the female shrimp. Well I am not complaining but I will just know what to expect next time :D

Interesting. Do you keep the water at room temperature or heat it?

The temperature is kept steady at about 78 degrees. I have a heater for the cold night and a fan for the warm times of the day. It does get to be 80 F on occation. I think it is the constant warm temperature and a steady diet that help to give me the results.
