Grammar 101

Post by Shaun »

Please correct me if I'm wrong. "Shrimps" is not a word, you say "Shrimp" if you are talking about 1 or 100. Its just like you wouldn't say "Hey, look at those deers."

I have been told that shrimps is appropriate if you are talking about more than one species, like fishes.

The words shrimp, deer, fish can be used in a sentence either in the singular form or the plural form.

I have a shrimp in my net.

I have a tank full of shrimp.

I found a dead shrimp in my tank.

I have a shipment of shrimp coming in.

It never hurts to know the proper usage of words or maybe they were trying to follow Forum Rule # 5.

I agree that 'shrimps' is appropriate when speaking of multiple species of shrimp.
