Malaya Update...

Post by southerndesert »

Hello All,

Well I just thought I'd share an update on my Malaya shrimp project. I now have several batches of young and the first batch born 12/25/2007 have grown to a quarter inch or more now and are very close to the size of my original 10 when they arrived. These shrimp are not difficult to raise and ary very steady producers with the females becoming berried again very soon after giving birth. Here are some photos of a berried female, eggs, and one of the young...

This has been a very rewarding experience and I will soon have a tank full of these beautiful shrimp. Perhaps I will have some more color varieties to share as the young mature over the next couple months. Thank you Mustafa for bringing this shrimp into the hobby!

Cheers, Bill

Hi John,

They are doing very well and I am cycling a new 20 long that I plan to expand my population into in a few weeks. I too really like this shrimp and plan to keep a couple tanks of them going. I have a pretty large population of young shrimp that are soon to be adults now and should have a couple healthy thriving colonies in a few more months time if all continues to go well. It is amazing how many folks have emailed me asking about available Malaya Shrimp after seeing photos, but I am waiting to have a fully established second colony before ever offering them. Besides I have someone that gets the first batch available already patiently waiting

This is this morning at feeding time...

Those are some really cool photos!!! They are very inspiring, I'm thinking of buying some ghost shrimp to see if I can raise them through the free floating stage.

Click on the quote square just above the reply box and you will get this

Copy what you want highlighted and paste it between the 2 quotes.

I hope this helps

Perhaps around 5 months since I got them...Can't remember for sure, but that is close. Each female has been berried more than once and I have several batches of young growing up.
