Golden Bee Shrimp

Post by southerndesert »

Hi All,

Sometime back I picked up some of these shrimp called Golden Bee and although some folks think the white color isn't attractive I myself like them. Here is a photo of one berried.

I keep them in the same water parameters as I do my CRS, Bee, and Tigers.

Cheers, Bill

They are a nice addition to your collection.

Do they breed true "All Golden"

Hi Bill

Just like the other Grades of CRS,

I would exspect a few " White " offspring mixed in the the Golden.

I too would like to know the result of the breeding. Are you going to try golden bred with golden or mix them with regular Chrystals?

I am just breeding them with their own kind right now...Hadn't thought about trying a cross. No young yet, but soon.

Update: Per Request....

I now have young in the tank and all seem to be just like the parents except lacking white to some extent and looking more gold. I imagine with time this will change. I actually hope some retain more gold as I really like the color. I think from what I have learned so far that there will be different "grades" in each batch of young.

How are the young coming along? They should be a little larger now and the future coloration a little more obvious.

I too would like to know. One thing I don't like about CRS/Golden Bee shrimp is that they tend to lose color as they grow, unless they have strong genetic factors and the right environmental conditions.
