snails and limpets

i have a snail and limpet problem that i REALLY REALLY want to get rid of. i'm tired of seeing all the baby snails (except MTS) and limpets on the plexi surface. i want to use a snail remover product (with copper) to get rid of them. what if i added a few pennies into the water? will that help kill them?

my plan of attack is to move the shrimp (and some of the larger MTS) into a diff't tank temporarily. then add the snail remover. how long before it is safe to return the crits back into the planted tank? will i need to add carbon to the filter?

also, i've considered getting puffers and loaches but i dont' want to decimate the population of MTS (these are the only snails i like). are there other methods?

No. The copper in pennies is not bio-available.

You would be better-off to use a water treatment that will bind the copper.

THis thread is repeating... If you wan to get rid of snails using chemical.. i suggest u remove yr shrimp to another tank as if the chemical can get rid of snail..i am sure it may also kill other invert. which is yr shrimp..

What if you put a piece of zuccini or some other vegetable in the tank, waited for the snails to be all over it, and then removed it from your tank (I think you could probably just take off the good snails and put them back in your tank.) And then repeat as necessary.
