They are coloring up very nicely! Blue / Green / Brown overtones... hard to catch on film, this came close.

Re: Malawa Shrimp - Photo Gallery and Blog
Wow - they are really coloring up fast! There are blue, green, brown and red colors coming in.
These guys seem to love a little current - they hang out under the "waterfall" and practice swimming... pretty fun to watch.

Very nice, thanks for keeping us update.
What type of gravel is in the tanks?

Re: Malawa Shrimp - Photo Gallery and Blog
Thanks for posting, I am glad people are looking at the photos.
My substrate is "Petco Gravel". I have a cycled tank (with ADA Amazonia) free but am thinking that these guys will like the less acidic water here. I do have a couple of the Malawas in the ADA tank and they seem happy but blend in too much with the lighter brown.
I'm realizing now the limitations of my cheapo camera... but will try my best to get some more shots.
From tonight....

Re: Malawa Shrimp - Photo Gallery and Blog
Very cool shrimp!
Thank you for sharing with us! I can relate to the frustrations of the limitations of cheapo cameras!
Re: Malawa Shrimp - Photo Gallery and Blog
Quick update... these shrimp seem very hardy and just keep trucking along. They seem to be growing a little more slowly now, but more and more coloring. They blend in very nicely with the decor.
Tonight, I caught them eating a snack (frozen bloodworms)... here are some samples:
Also, here are links to a couple higher resolution photos if you are interested:

Re: Malawa Shrimp - Photo Gallery and Blog - Mating Video???
You guys wont believe this... but I think I caught two Malawas breeding... watch this video and let me know!

I THINK those are eggs she is holding... but they are clear... maybe she is too young?
