I have learned so much about shrimp from you guys already!! But I still am less than an amateur.
Here is another, possible funny, question. I bought some ghosties, and put some in my main tank, and 1 in my fry tank. With all the problems I have been reading about, I was wondering if they are all ghosties or not. (especially the 1 in my fry tank)
I noticed that on some of their antennas there are some dashes of red coloring. I can not find any more color on them, and it is not on all of the shrimp. Are they safe to keep with my babies?
Thanks
Branden

Regular ghost shrimp (Palaemonetes sp.) should be tolerable if you are willing to accept the potentiality of fry loss; some report them to be truly opportunistic (though others claim them to be inordinately peaceful); know that I have never personally attempted such a combination). On the other hand, predatory Macrobrachium species occassionally smuggle themselves into shimpments of "ghost shrimp", with which they, when young, are nearly indistinguishable. I would urge caution.
