Pumpkin Shrimp

Post by Newjohn »

Pumpkin / Orange / Orange Mandarin Shrimp ?

Are these a newer Color Morph / Selectively Bred ?

I have been out of the loop for awhile,
If you can dye a Shrimp Blue, Orange is not out of the question.

That's their real color. As far as I know they first occured in Germany and then spread to Asia. At least that's what some Germans are claiming...but who knows...maybe they bought some asian Red Cherry Shrimp/Sakura/Fire Red etc. and some orange shrimp were among them because some Asian breeder accidentally included his/her newes mutation in a shipment of regular RCS types....who knows.

Probably from one of those crayfish farms in the southern US, where they breed tons and tons Procambarus clarkii for food (Cajun food etc.). Can you imagine how many mutations they must be getting? And then those mutations land on someone's platter....
