Re: Eggs?
Rob I thought there was a hint of sarcasm in the last post. While clear eggs are possible I think it is unlikely. At least with these shrimp so far. Mustafa talked about green eggs and I saw pictures of yellow eggs and most of our shrimp have red or a grayish red eggs. I think our trouble is when comparing Opae with the freshwater shrimp we keep. With a good hand lens the eggs in the ovaries of freshwater shrimp are egg shaped and easily distinguishable. In the Opae the ovaries are located more forward and the developing eggs seem compressed and not as well defined, at least to my eye. Then Mustafa complicated things by saying that some Opae have white organs while others have dark organs.

No sarcasm intended, Ken, I promise. Was thinking I was seeing something there, though guess it's all in my head.

Rob I am sorry I thought that way. this is my problem with blogs, emails etc.. It is hard to know what the other person is really saying without visual and auditory clues. Also typing without thinking is too easy.

Yes, just to keep things interesting. Simplicity is boring, right?COTIGIRL wrote: Then Mustafa complicated things by saying that some Opae have white organs while others have dark organs.

Sure enuf!
Re: Eggs?
Ok, here is a picture that you've seen before. I circled the "spongy tissue" with a red marker and the ovary with eggs in it with a yellow one. In this case the "spongy tissue" is whitish with some grey on the shrimp in focus. The shrimp on the right has brownish-blackish spongy tissue. After a while you get so used to seeing the ovary with eggs that you can even tell where it is on a shrimp completely out of focus, like the one in the back. I should have use the "circle" function in the drawing program, but my quick and dirty approximations of "circles" still do the trick.

Re: Eggs?
Cool. Looks like I have lots of eggs waiting to be "planted".
