wat type of filter do you guys use? Sponge or those running type? If you are using those running type aren't you afraid your baby baby shrimp will get sucked into yr filter? Share your experience Here !!

Mine is not a sponge filter. My filter is entirely in the water. I believe the holes will trap baby shrimps. I don't have any pregnant shrimp for the time being. I'll definitely move pregnant shrimps into my small breeding tank hung inside my 10-gallon tank if I'm lucky enough later.

I have a normal HOB filter but I cover it with Fluval 2 sponge, it works wonders
a) It keeps the babies from being sucked into the filter
b) The shrimps graze onthe sponge for food that is trapped in the sponge.
It's a win-win thing to have it in the tank.
Cheers

I have the same setup as amber -- a HOB (power) filter, with a sponge over the intake.
This was after finding a bunch of baby shrimp on my filter pad.

I run a cannister filter with a sponge prefilter on my 75, and a redsea nanofilter on my 2.5 with a sponge prefilter.

Mine's a HOB filter too - but I inserted a layer of net between the basket and the inlet hose.

How much current/turbulance does your red sea create in your 2.5 gallon tank?
Thanks
