How many opae ula shrimp do you have in your tank and how old are they?
Yup hoping more will bear eggs! :p
I'm not sure how old they are exactly.. I started with 3 last year, October.. I bought another 37 (mostly pretty small, I'm guessing just juveniles) from another hobbyist/breeder. I lost one due to my experiment using live rock. I think a crab or bristle worm took out a poor shrimp So guys, don't risk using live rock, especially if your shrimp is still young.
Bad news.. My first berried shrimp dropped almost all of her eggs. Now there's 2 left
Of the two I noticed that one has developed eyes
Hopefully these 2 make it...
Haha I'm not using any fancy camera.. Just my iPhone and a rather cheap lens attachment I bought online! Check out Aliexpress for deals.
There's macro, wide and fish-eye lens
Wow. Nice close up. I have looked at those lenses in the past but never bought one. For there price and based upon your pics i should pull the trigger and get them.

Yup it's pretty good to me!
Just a heads up, the macro lens, the subject must be at least within 1cm from the lens for the photo to be clear.
Pretty tough to get good shots but it works haha! Persistence and patience!
I ordered telephoto lens to try out too. Yet to arrive. Will see how that works
The photo is slightly blur, darn these critters can't sit still.
Anyway I noticed what looks like eggs?
hey did you ever get to the bottom of this photo, i noticed this on one of mine today and it reminded me of your photo.
sorry about the image quality, was interested
Haha yup that looks like an egg. I still have a few of my shrimps with visible eggs but yet to be berried. So I'm still not sure if those are indeed eggs? Will have to wait on that. It can't possibly be some weird organ that they have either right? Haha!
The only tell tale sign that they are berrying is when their swimerettes are stretched out (strangely I don't see visible eggs at this stage, just a patch of red in the saddle area), you'll usually see them berried around 24hrs later
No floating larvas means it's not a successful breed.
1st mom dropped all her eggs.
2nd mom dropped 98% of her eggs to date.
I wonder what's wrong :\ First-time moms?
If water conditions are right, will there be eggs laid in the first place? Or it doesn't matter? Perhaps water conditions have to be right for the eggs to develop well?
On another observation I noticed the 1st mom appears in the open much more than the 2nd mom, which tends to stay hidden until the main light is switched off.

I've been observing this particular shrimp for quite some time now and I affectionately called him Quasimodo. He seem to have a growth that makes him look like the hunchback.

Looks like some kind of growth. I'm not sure what that is or whether he's able to survive. He's eating and swimming okay so far. No sign of any disability. What do you guys think?
