just a quick thought, what's the bio load for these shrimp? haven't really seen much info but wanted to ask because they always seem to be eating and pooping

Is there a max to how many shrimp you can comfortably house in a set size tank?

They say the bioload is very minimal (even though it seems like theyre dropping poop every other minute) i would say in a well established tank ex: 5 gallon 200 opaes should be okay. But having said that, i think the opaes might feel a bit uncomforatble it being that crowded.

I have mine in my main tank which is about 17 gallons. Just wondered when you should start moving a few to a new tank, but by the sounds of things they will be fine for a good long while

This question comes often in one form or the other. I must have between 500-1000 in a 10 gallon and about 100 in a one gallon. I would believe that their population is self regulating. Both of these tanks have drastically slowed their breeding. Also i have been only feeding monthly if that. So if i had to guess 100 per gallon using the Pet Shrimp Method. How can you count them?

Ken said it. However, I would not just stick 100 shrimp all at once in a gallon or thousand+ in a 10 gallon. The nitrifying bacteria and other biological components of the tank (or "ecosystem") should ideally grow with the population.
