Question about pH

Post by George »

This topic has probably been addressed numerous times here. I did a search and did not find an exact answer and it is getting late. So forgive me if this is redundant. My question is regarding pH level for brackish water and Alkalinity. My test came up with 8.4 for pH and Alkalinity was 300 ppm which is optimal for sea water. I thought that if I diluted by half, which I have, with Distilled Water that would have an effect on the pH and other levels.

Re: Question about pH

The pH in my Supershrimp tanks is around 8 pretty much all the time. I don't even measure alkalinity or pH usually. If you have sufficient amounts of crushed coral or other calcium carbonate material in your tank the conditions will automatically be right.
