Plastic Plants
Hi Everyone! I have a plastic plant in my 3/4th gallon tank. It is sold as a decoration specifically for aquariums. It's been a year, and all of my shrimp are doing well. My question is, will this plastic plant begin to biodegrade over time and possibly harm the shrimp? I have no filter. I do no water changes. Just top off with distilled water to adjust for evaporation. Has anyone used plastic plants in their tanks for long periods of time without problems?
Re: Plastic Plants
I've had a bunch of plastic plants in a big freshwater tank for years without issue (and this was with a big crayfish that liked to nibble on them), but I don't know if brackish water would be different. I've never heard of plastic plants made for aquarium use becoming toxic either, but you may want to do some research to be sure.
