Shrimp's swimmerets are stretched out why?

Post by nyanalicenyan »

Hi all,
After I came back from my trip I realised I have a shrimp that has his/her swimmerets stretched out, its been about a week. Injured shrimp? Help I'm worried.

I have noticed a few of my female shrimp look like that right before releasing either fertilized eggs into the pleopods, or releasing all their hatched larvae into the tank. Could that have happened to your shrimp?

Can't seems to spot any "saddle" on that shrimp yet. He/her swimmerets are still stretched out. Could it be the berried female has dropped all her eggs already? :(

Could be. This one looks like she was carrying eggs recently. But other than that I wouldn't worry too much about it. She seems to be eating fine (intestines full of "crap"/digested food) and probably behaving normally too. The issue will fix itself during the next molt i'm sure.
