Shrimp Swimming to Top of Tank

Post by dbrannan7ak »

I put shrimp and snails in two separate tanks (work & home) yesterday 3/8/18. The shrimp in my home tank are mostly staying at the bottom of the tank and the snails are moving around. My work tank is acting different. The shrimp are swimming good but also keep moving to the top of the tank and the snails have not moved. Is this normal or should I have concern for my work tank. Thanks in advance for any help.

Indeed, are the shrimp swimming upside down and pawing at the surface? If so then they are just picking at organic matter on the surface. Why the snails are not I can't say.

It's always difficult to determine why exactly two tanks are different when it comes to the behavior of the inhabitants. But my guess is that one of the tanks is not fully "ready" yet (so it will take some time to settle) or that some "chemical" may have made its way in the work tank.
