New questions

Post by kyle0901 »

Hello Guys, I have some new questions, please help me, Thanks!

1. The sand in my original tank started turning brown and spreading, I have attached some photos of it below. My shrimps seem unaffected by now since the brownish sands haven’t touched surface yet, what is this and is it OK to leave it alone?

2. I am setting up a new tank now that Mustafa algae has arrived. Is it OK to just put a portion of the algae into the tank and wait until I see growth? Is that a sign of safety and an established cycled tank? Thanks.

3. What is the growth rate of Mustafa algae and mossball? Coz I want to keep them in both the tanks.

The brown color is probably from some kind of bacteria or algae. I doubt its dangerous, and the shrimp will probably eat it once it reaches the surface of the substrate.

The macroalgae grows quickly, at least usually, whereas the mossballs grow and split quite slowly.

I don't know what to say about your brown sand, but if I had to guess it could be from having nobody to clean out the algae in the sand (Snails).
The Macro algae grows pretty fast, but the algae moss balls are a lot slower at reproducing (Splitting).
(Keep in mind I have no experience with any of this, as of now I haven't even started my tank cycle, but this is just from what I have read) :D :D
