This might be a weird question, but I've hesitated getting snails because...
My sea fan, little twig tree and the lava rock are only very gently nestled into the sand. It was hard for me to get them to stand up without falling over. My shells are just resting lightly on top of the sand and one is just slightly propped up on the lava rock to give them something to hide under (which was also difficult to get situated properly). With a very shallow substrate - about 1 inch or less - I was concerned that a snail or two would disturb the sand too much and knock all my decor loose. And now that the shrimp are in there it would be very hard - if not impossible - to put it all back together without disturbing or possibly injuring them too much.
Has this happened to anyone?
Thanks

Re: Snails vs decor
The snails are tiny and their burrowing slow. Plus their burrows collapse behind them as soon as they move through a given space, one might say they don't make a burrow so much as force their way through sand, and they do so so slowly that a given area of active disturbance is tiny. As such I doubt they would disturb the sand enough to knock over decor, but I can't be certain as all the decor in my tank is quite large.

I with varanus, I don't believe your snails would cause that much disturbance. I haven't had issues with them with my decor.
