So my gf was looking in my tank this afternoon and noticed this. Any idea as to what it is and should I remove it?

it seems to be just some kind of debris that starting to detach at the bottom. No need to remove it. She shrimp will "take care" of it eventually.

Well this thing is definitely alive. I watched it for several minutes and it’s moving. Any ideas as to what kind of parasite this beast might be?

From poking around the net is it maybe a Tubifex?

Have you added anything to your tank recently? Maybe some kind of trematode came in with a snail?

Haven't added anything. I removed the heater and thermometer to get it down to just the basics. Maybe I didn't rinse the crushed coral good enough? Heck I put that in a long long time ago. Im wondering if it's a threat at all to the opas or if I should take it out and desalinate it in my empty fresh water tank then feed it to my betta? Hmmmm....

Moving alien worm.. if it were me I'd prob remove it and play it safe. Maybe ir your curious isolate it in another container
