I HAVE A HUGE PROBLEM. my daughter accidentaly put play dough in the tank and now i dont know what to do. i took it out put it left some residue on the glass. what do i do?
Re: Hello Im New and would love your advice :)
I wouldn’t worry too much as long as all visible remnants are take out. How big is your tank again? The bigger it is the less impact the play dough has. As long as your cycle finishes (algae!) the shrimp will be okay.

I took the chuck out but when I was getting it out it touched the glass so it has little smudges. I'll attach the photos. It's a 5 gallon.

Have you tried taking a paper towel and wiping it off? If you keep the towel pressed against the glass that should keep the remnants from floating away once they are scrubbed off.

Good idea! A clean wash cloth would be even better.

I looked this morning and it disappeared. It was really like smear

It appears like playdoh has mostly edible ingredients, and all of them are non-toxic so the most that could happen is that you have a bacterial bloom (either cloudy water or whitish surface growth or both) for a while. If you're really paranoid you can perform a 80-90% water change and leave it at that. It won't interrupt the already ongoing establishment of microorganisms in your tank.

So I added my macro algae and snails after a week and 1/2. I don't really see any algae so should I drop a shrimp wafer in there for the snails for now?
Re: Hello Im New and would love your advice :)
They should be fine without it, but you can add a little food if it makes you feel better. Make sure its no more than one wafer, or heck just a tiny piece of a wafer, at least until you have a handle on how much they eat and how quickly.

Just wait. Don’t expect algae to be visible right away. It takes time to form and clump together. My tank is 7 months old and I barely have specs on the walls. They’re always feeding and you can’t see it. Most important thing is to let your tank cycle. If you mess with the parameters you’ll make things worse and end up having to fix the issue and wait longer.

Does this look ok
Re: Hello Im New and would love your advice :)
Yes, it's fine. It's surface film...the shrimp and snails will eat it.
