New set up
I've just emptied a big 350 trigon jewel today. In my fx4 filter is lots of ceramic rings etc.. Would it be beneficial to a new set up food these shrimps if I dropped a few into new set up or even squeeze old filter sponge into new water. Or would this be too much. Thanks for any advice

Re: New set up
Are you going to fill the 350 with shrimp now?
Kidding lol
Since these guys are kept at half the salinity of saltwater I'm not sure if many of the beneficial bacteria would survive. To get your new tank ready you just need to cycle it. Coming from a tank like that I'm sure u must know your way around a test kit and know the routine. Most ppl here just fill and let it sit till algae is visible. It certainly wouldn't hurt imho and might speed your cycle process. Just keep an eye on the numbers before you populate. Good luck!!

Re: New set up
I'd drop in the ceramic rings. When I set up my tank I added lava rocks from my freshwater tanks. I didn't have any issues.
The worry is that you'd end up with a parasite or algae that you wouldn't want in your shrimp tank. That probably wouldn't survive in brackish water.
