Hi Aurelien,

I love your tank especially the plant looking tree. Where did you get it? I have been wondering what name they use for them. Do you know the name of them?

Thanks for the sharing your tank pictures with us! Great looking tanks! Just keep in mind that the Chaetomorpha macroalgae you have is the course reef tank species and will eventually fall apart in a Supershrimp tank due to the low salinities. For everyone else who is wondering, just look at the Chaetomorpha in the pictures above and compare it to the "Supershrimp Macroalgae" (Also a Chaetomorpha species, just a different one) on this site. They are not the same.

Remove all you can and keep doing so. Eventually other types of algae will outcompete it.

Possibly a noob question: Why are hair algae a bad thing?

Young shrimp can become entangled in it and die.

I don’t know where Aurelien got their sea fan from but I found someone on Etsy who collects them from the beach and leaves them in the sun to dry. I sent a message prior to purchasing to ensure that it wasn’t coated with anything as she does sell some that have been colored as decor.
