I need help

Post by PattiAnnK »

I have had a tank for several years and decided to go a little bigger. I ordered gravel and rocks from Petshrimp and netted the largest shrimp into the new tank once I had algae on the glass. Now I see I have some unwelcome tank mates. There are tiny white things swimming around at the top of the tank. What is happening?

Hi, I had a similar problem recently with copods . I literally had tens of thousands in my 65 gallon Opae tank. I had to skim the surface of the tank with a small fine mesh net. It took a little over month for me to get all of them. It was very time consuming because I had baby Opae floating around, so I would have to empty the net in a bowl of brackish water then look for any shrimp with a magnifying glass and then remove them with a turkey blaster and return them to the tank. Make sure you get all of them, because if they are the same type I had they will reproduce quickly.... good luck 👍

Do you know what causes them to appear?

I’m not 100% sure but I added some moss balls to my tank and they started to appear soon after.
