It could be from an increase in nutrients but it could also be due to the shrimp and snails eating the extra food instead of grazing on biofilm and algae as much as before thus giving it a chance to grow. It's probably a combination of the two.

I cut the pale Macroalgae in half today. While it has tripled in size over the past two months it did lose its deep green coloring. My thought is it has been absorbing too many nutrients that could go toward growing edible algae. A side benefit to the overfeeding regimen is I noticed the first berried female.
