Is Calcium Important to Opae Ula?

Post by Vorteil »

Now i'm not sure if Dr. Santos has made any changes to thier studies. I heard that they removed the filtration but not 100% sure. Their tanks show a powerhead in there. The only thing in the tanks are lava rocks. Tanks look like they are also labeled from where the opae originate from. I keep a form of calcium carbonate in all my tanks except my jars which only have lave rocks and one also have a sea fan. Thoughts?

Are they powerheads or a system that distributes water through all the tanks? I thought calcium carbonate was for pH buffering to prevent swings in pH. Certainly there is no shortage of calcium carbonate in the anchialine pools. It is possible there is a calcium source in his tanks that we can not see.
