Shrimp stores in Hong Kong

I will be going to HK at the end of May. Can members that live in HK share where they normally get their shrimps?

I want to check out the stores in HK that carries Fresh Water Shrimps

Most fish shops in Hong Kong are located in one street near Prince Edward Underground Train Station (we call it MTR - mass transit railway). Local people call it Goldfish Street. I remember the proper name of the street is either Tung Choi Street or Sai Yeung Choi Street. Tung Choi Street is more probable. This street is a MUST VISIT place if you would like to see aquarium accessories, marine fish, fresh water fish and fresh water shrimp. There are at least 50 fish shops in the same street. All the shops are in a straight street, no corner. There are some more after you've crossed a patrol station near Prince Edward MTR Station. All the shops run between Mong Kok MTR Station and Prince Edward Station.

There is one more on Hong Kong Island (the big Goldfish Street is in Kowloon, there is a sea between Kowloon and Hong Kong). The shop-keeper is very nice. He is happy to answer any questions about fish or shrimp keeping. He shrimp doesn't have shrimp every day. I just see shrimp there by chance. It's somewhere between Sai Wan Ho MTR Station and Shau Kei Wan MTR Station. It's not very easy to find the place.

they have so many species in HK that don't seem to be avail here.

can't wait to hear all the goodies you bring back.

i'm so glad they (customs) allow it.

i suspected as much, but i wasn't completely sure. how do u declare it? i'm curious because i may be making a trip to HK sometime soon. thx.

Well that's a pretty complex process. I usually import these thing through a broker or an agent who is in the pet trade so I won't have to deal with it myself.

On my return trip last year they took away my sandwich saying that no meat of any kind is allowed through customs so I would say that shrimps is out of the question.

scampi-- can you comment on the customs issue? i'm curious how one would get it 1) out of HK and 2) into the US w/o problems. i bought a few tiger shrimp off some guy who said he brought them back with him from HK on a trip there. i don't know if he had them exported or whatnot.

shrimpboyLA-- have you done the broker/agent thing before? how does it work?
