Molt or dead shrimp?

Post by ProLogic »

Hi forum experts, happy Friday! I received my shrimpies on Wednesday and they all looked great. This morning I either woke up to molt or carnage and would like to figure out which it is. Since the shape seems to be cracked right behind the head, I thought maybe one of the dudes just grew out of his skin but then I thought about how I eat shrimp ... and well ... you know ... maybe it died and the others were having a feast. Can you tell?

Thanks for the help!

Definitely a molt . They back out of the shell through a break just back of the head.

When they are dead, if you manage to find a body before the rest eat it, it will be a solid object, not the ghostly shell as appears here. You'll be able to tell (but hopefully never have to). ;-)
