Avoid disaster, just do what Mustafa says.

Post by Tiny Ocean »

I will never ever again do anything other than what Mustafa suggests or buy stuff from anyone else. My shrimp are dying (7 out of 40 in the past month) and my Chaeto has areas with tiny white flecks or tiny dead segments -- can't tell without a microscope. There are tiny transparent colorless things swimming in the tank (nearly invisible, they are so small, but I can see them with a magnifying glass) and I don't think they are shrimp larvae because why would they reproduce when they're sick? I think maybe they are parasites brought in by a nerite snail purchased from another source, something MUSTAFA TOLD ME NOT TO DO. I have been building this tank population up so slowly and carefully...it's a rotten disappointment. From now on I will have a tank ONLY with shrimp and chaeto and MTS from Mustafa.

Now I guess I only have the choice of just killing everything fairly humanely or waiting for whatever it is to kill all the shrimp. Right? Any other ideas?

and now a few long fine strands like cobweb are growing in the tank also. Some kind of fungus I suppose.

How is your tank doing? Are the deaths continuing?

Hi Mustafa! That tank is doing just fine...apparently all that was necessary was that I should freak out, and then everything would be fine. No more deaths. All the shrimp are red and properly active. The white water mold disappeared almost immediately. The chaeto still has a place with tiny white dots or flecks but they haven't grown at all.
