Hi!!
Hi, I'm raising Opaeula shrimp in Korea. Does MTS refer to the Malaysian trumpet snail? The snail is breeding tremendously in another fish tank. Can the snail adapt and endure in a brackish environment? If so, I'm going to move to the Opaeula shrimp tank and try to adapt it. Is there anything I need to keep in mind or take good care of? I'd appreciate it if you could let me know.

Hi, and welcome to the forum!
MTS is often used to refer to the Malaysian Trumpet Snail.
You can acclimate freshwater MTS to brackish water fairly easily. I did that about 10 years ago with some MTS I got from a pet store. The first day, I put the snails in water with salinity about 50% of the salinity often used for Opae ula. (in other words, about 25% the salinity of seawater.) The next day, I put the in the Opae ula tank…and 10 years later, their descendants still live in that tank. That may not be the best method, but it worked for me, and the snails did not appear stressed in the slightest.
I have experienced what Mustafa has indicated will happen…the MTS don’t grow as large or breed nearly as quickly in brackish setups, but they do just fine. Their shells tend to be darker in color, but they appear to be very healthy shells (all that calcium carbonate!)

Thank you. I increased my time by exposing myself to the brackish water environment every day, and today I put 2MTS in the Opaeula tank. Adult snails started out as little snails, just in case they die. I'll share the results with you in a month

Yes, MTS usually means Malaysian trumpet snails. They’re freshwater snails and may survive only in *lightly* brackish water, but they usually don’t thrive at the salinity used for Opae ula shrimp.
If you try moving them:
• Acclimate them **very slowly** to higher salinity.
• Watch water quality in case some snails die off.
• Provide sand or fine gravel for burrowing.
Many keepers avoid adding snails to Opae ula tanks to keep the system stable, so testing them in a separate container first is safer.
