About a year ago, my husband accidentally knocked off my shrimp tank and a colony of 70+ shrimp I’ve had for nearly a decade was mostly lost, except for about 20 survivors I rescued off the floor. I frantically threw together a new tank with proper salinity ratios and distilled water, but this new tank has a gap in the lid and has allowed about 60% of the water to evaporate.
I searched the forum for answers but it’s seems most people just top off their tanks with RO/distilled water. I’m wondering if that’s too much of a shift in salinity if I add back the water, although I know some salt is on the sides of the tank and would get dissolved.
Should I mix salt + water + current tank water and let it cycle for 3 weeks before adding it to the current tank?

I wouldn't add any more salt to the tank. All of the original salt is still in the tank and when you add water back it will return to the same levels it originally was

Thanks for your reply!
For some reason it feels incorrect to just pour distilled water right in. Does it make sense to cycle the distilled water with some of their water before introducing it to the tank, or am I overthinking this
