Does anyone else's mossball purchased from Petshrimp.com just look and grow like hair algae? I purchased mine a year ago and while it does survive/grow in brackish water, it does not grow nor look like a mossball at all.
All new growth just looks like a thin, wispy and tangled mess, with no tendencies to ball up at all. Any pieces that break off also simply act the same. The algae never attaches to anything in the tank. It tends to accumulate bubbles as well and then float to the top of the tank. While I do appreciate how slow-growing it is, I don't feel like I received what I paid for.

Re: Petshrimp Mossball looks and grows like hair algae
The one I got from here about 8 years ago is unchanged. It has not grown, it has not changed color. It's about the size of a small marble. I transferred it to my new much much large tank and will see if anything changes. Might have had to much nutrients in my smaller established tank, who knows. I do have whisps of the stuff you have in your tank. I don't really think they are growth from the mossball, or even pieces of it, they appear structurally different. Mine is literally a small ball of green, as if I dyed a cotton ball and tossed it in.
