, I'm assuming it's due to shipping, it turned this color when I got it, looks dead but moving around like a normal shrimp. What's wrong? Already been a week in my tank.
I have never seen a Tiger shrimp like that before so it's hard to say if it's sick or not and if sick, what kind of condition it might be. Is it eating properly? You'll just have to wait and see what happens to it and report back to us. The weird thing is that only the upper part of the carapace seems to have the brown coloration and a small portion of the lower abdominal area does not (this shrimp is a female by the way as far as I can tell.). Would be possible to get a larger picture of the shrimp?
I will try to find a better picture of it, I have two shrimps like this, they were like this before pick up, I think it's stress related, the guy that I bought these from thought they were dead too due to shipping but when I got home, they were moving around like any normal shrimp. Not a hybrid by the way, was kept in it's own tank since birth. Body looks like a dead shrimp's.
Sorry to hear that. Was that one the only shrimp that died? I am just curious to see what the survival rate of your Tiger Shrimp shipment was. These guys are generally in a terrible condition when they arrive in the US and stay that way most of the time until they die. If you're lucky some make it and recover.
