Algae Discs - Copper Issue

Post by S »

The ingredients list on Wardley's Premium Algae Discs lists Copper Sulfate. I contacted their corporate HQ and was told " there is not enough copper sulphate in the Algae Discs to harm the shrimp as long as they are not overfed." Are these algae discs dangerous to my shrimp?

I wouldn't take the risc myself :? maybe it's possible to catch all the shrimps out , use the product and than use Cuprisorb
from Seachem that will remove all copper from your water again. I'm not sure that this product is sold worldwide but there must be an substitute if it isn't for sale where you live.

I would avoid the Wardley wafers. I had an issue with massive shrimp loss while feeding these to my shrimp. I looked at the bag and noticed the copper sulfate. The deaths stopped shortly thereafter. From then on I always read the ingredients on foods and avoid anything that contains copper or that says "trace elements."
