I have the opportunity to import a large quantity of Crystal Red Shrimp. I've seen pictures from the seller and the quality is very high. The shrimp will be 1/2"-3/8" in size and have very strong coloration.
I'm still working out the quantity and shipping details with the seller. It only makes sense for me to do this if I purchase a large number, otherwise the shipping costs make it too expensive per shrimp.
How many people are interested in sharing this order with me? I'm planning to handle the order, payment, and shipping myself and have the shrimp delivered to me. Then, I'll take care of quarantine and repacking in smaller lots to ship out to everyone. I'll order all the shipping materials and organize the orders.
I'm thinking we can do this for $5-$6 per shrimp + shipping. This should be a fair price to cover loses from the original shipment, packing supplies, and handling.

These shrimp are way overpriced for my taste. NOT this proposal in particular, but this variety of shrimp as a whole is ridiculously expensive. When they're a little more common and not so expensive maybe I'll try to get a few in the future.
But movements just like this are (hopefully) going to help increase availablity and lower prices in time. So best of luck with the mass import plan.
For the record I think Cherry Reds are way overpriced as well, considering their ease of keeping and easy prolific breeding. So maybe I'm just a cheapskate!

Well said, it has became a pest in my planted tank, and there is no way for me to remove them. Another one, green shrimps, they are more hardy then red cherry, and breed like hare.

Yeah, I agree shrimp are overpriced...but it's simple supply and demand when it comes to Crystal Red Shrimp. Personally, I'm willing to pay a premium because I want them now, but the supply is limited.
I'm hoping I can import a large number of them and get them distributed across the US so people can start to breed them at home.
I also agree Cherry Red Shrimp prices are inflated as well. They are very easy to breed. My orginal stock of 20 is topping 100+ right now in less than 3 months. I'm planning to sell some off and would be happy with $2.50 each.
I'm willing to foster a bet that Crystal Red Shrimp will eventually come down in price as the supply is more readily available domestically.

No offence here! I suggest you wait until Fall. Weather is too hot now. You take too many risks!!! Not worth to try!
I am also thinking to import "S" grade or above by myself, but after I think for a while, I think I will wait until weather cool down in Fall if I am still interested in CRS... ^^

Yeah, its apetinc.com, thought thats what I typed. I don't know what grade they are, I bought 6 of them so far about 2 months ago, they havent breed, but I havent had any deaths yet. There very active. Apet isnt in Schamburg, I said the pet store I buy them from is in Schamburg. That pet store orders them from apetinc.com, also I spoke with the owner of the store, he said he also orders them from Wilson Pets and that place is in Schamburg. He said there is a size difference Wilsons shrimp are a bit larger. Wilson has a 300 $ minimum order though. Need anymore info , let me know.

Bear in mind that CRS are not widely available. Hard to get=more expensive. Plus, even if you order, you have to take into account shipping costs, which isn't cheap either. $5-6 is reasonable.
